I feel like we are blasting hills and destroying the nature. What do you think? Can Geology benefit society?

Most of the day to day objects in our life are made using metal which is discovered by a Geologist. So, we can't blame Geologists for the destruction of the nature. There are many branches in Geology helping the society. For example, Hydrolgeologists strive for conserving groundwater, artificial recharge of groundwater etc., the exploration geologists find new mineral deposits, the researchers study minerals, rocks and fossils to know more about the history of the Earth. We can't undermine the contribution of Geologists.

Geology has always been part of the interaction of men with nature. E.g. for a Homo erectus to know that silex is a good rock for crafting sharp spears was already a geological knowledge.
