National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI), established in 1961, is a Geoscientific research organization of India, established under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). The research work includes the exploration of mineral, coal, hydrocarbon and groundwater resources. Apart from that, the institute plays a key role in the seismic studies and earthquake hazard assessment. The institute has several advanced equipment and is supported by over 200 scientists and technicians.
